downtown Escondido. The emerging Escondido Arts District boasts over 35 local galleries, working artist’s studios, museums and the beautiful California Center for the Arts in a defined 6 block area. Opened in Aug 2004, Shiva Artistic Collections soon became the premiere showcase for emerging artists. Representing dozens of artists, local and outside the area,
owner Melissa Ralston has created an inspiring and beautiful contemporary arts gallery. “Being an artist, my goal was to help support our growing local art community and provide a venue for other local artists to sell their work. I wanted a retail environment that was accessible to everyone, a place where people could shop for unique handmade works of art and fine craft gifts.” Melissa graduated from the University of California San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Arts and an Associate of Arts degree in Interior Design. Her Merchandising career supported her artistic endeavors throughout the years. Having worked in almost every medium, her staff is extremely knowledgeable about the processes of most work. Her and her husbands, most exciting adventure to date has been in the raising of their lovely daughter, Vienna.
SHIVA Artistic Collections is also home to Cheryl Tall Art Studios, an international, award winning ceramic sculptor. Many of her pieces are on display in the workshop where she teaches ceramic classes during the week. “I look forward to your next visit to Shiva Artistic Collections. I would like to thank all those who continue to support our area artists. Your patronage helps ensure the continuation of social, economic and artistic growth in our community!“
